Back to School

Hello everyone, I am the upper school math teacher as well as the athletic director for Flint Academy. This year I will be teaching basic math, pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, and geometry, as well as physical education and a morning devotional. I can't wait to get started!

Christian Studies Syllabus

Course Description

First thing in the morning the senior class will gather in my classroom for Christian Studies. For this course we will be discussing and reading from The Diaries of Adam and Eve by Mark Twain. To get a little more hands on with the book we will be making our own illustrations for the book. Throughout the course we will also be working on plans for graduation, senior trip, and life after graduation. This will be a good way to prepare for college, military, or getting a job. In order to complete the course in a timely manner, students may be assigned homework and are expected to bring their completed work back promptly. The objective for this course is to better prepare the student for a higher level of living.

Evaluations

Evaluations will be given throughout the course to see how much of the material covered you have retained since the last evaluation. The evaluation will be given in the form of narration or interview.

Mathematics Syllabus

Course Description

Throughout the course the student will be working out of the Math-U-See curriculum revised and edited by Coach Hallford. The student will also be engaged in problem solving, applications, investigations, and communicating their findings mathematically (verbally and in written form). In order to complete the course in a timely manner, students may be assigned homework and are expected to bring their completed work back promptly. The objective for this course is to better prepare the student for a higher level of learning.

Tests

Tests will be given throughout the course (usually at the end of each lesson) to evaluate your knowledge of the material covered since the last test. If you are absent on the day of a test, expect to take the test at the start of the next math class.

Physical Education Syllabus

Course Description

The physical education class is designed to further enhance the students’ knowledge of sports and physical fitness. The course will be intertwined with the history we are studying; therefore we will be holding our own Olympics competition at the end of the school year, modeled after the traditional games of ancient Greece.
